My mom tagged me to list 6 random things about myself. Normally, you would tag six more people, but since all the people I am connected with in the blogging world are already tagged, I thought it best to just do my list and leave it at that. So here it is:
1. I love old movies- regular and musicals. I've actually gotten Dan interested in some of my old movies, but he draws the line at musicals.
2. I will make up a song about anything. This includes cleaning supplies
3. I would wear flip flops for every occasion if I could
4. My favorite store is Lowes (or Homedepot)
5. I must have a blanket if I'm watching tv or a movie
6. I hate milk
*Bonus*
7. I love doing the laundry- especially the sorting part
8. I slept in some of my husbands clothes while he was deployed
9. I scare easily
10. I still hook my finger around my nose like I did when I used to suck my thumb

A Pitbull Named George....
There are a few things about George that are well known around this house. For example, if you have a blanket you'll also have a George. If there is a sun spot, George will find it and move around the room so he stays in it. If you can't find him, just look on the bed or on the couches. If there is no room on said couches or bed, he will just climb on top of you or one of the dogs and make himself comfortable. These are things about George that you can count on. He is my regular snugglebuddy, and I'm used to that. However, the past few days he's been extra clingy. Everywhere I sit, he sits. Everywhere I go, he goes. Here is the picture proof that he's getting a little carried away with this quaility time thing.
He just walked over and climbed into my lap like it was a perfectly normal thing to do! He's done it a few times now, but I had to put a stop to it. Try and get anything done on your computer with a 60lb pitbull sitting in your lap, licking your face everytime you bend over to type on the keyboard!

Class experiences
One of my friends from church asked me to go with her to a kickboxing class yesterday. I was more than a little hesitant. My one other experience in a aerobics class earlier this summer was not good. If you haven't heard that story yet, I'll just enlighten you a little. The room was surrounded with mirrors. The instructor...well, lets just say she was really really hyped up (I was sure she was on something). We didn't go over the moves before we started this veryfastpacedroutine. Everyone in the room had done this routine before (except me). Long story short- I ended up looking totally ridiculous (arms and legs flailing, constantly facing the wrong direction), and thanks to the surrounding mirrors, everyone could see. It.Was.Embarrising.
I had no plans of ever putting myself in that situation again, but my friend asked, and so yesterday I decided to give this kickboxing class a shot. My friend had never done it, so I had the reassurance that I wouldn't be the only newbie in the group. We got there and walked into the gym where the class was to be held. We looked around. This couldn't be right. It was a gym full of men!
I could tell my friend was just as uncomfortable as I was, and after a few uncertain minutes I was sure we were going to book it out of there. But......we gathered up what little bit of courage we had, and slinked into the very back row (we weren't feeling front row courageous).
My friend knew the instructor, and although we couldn't understand a word she was saying (headset in gym- not a good mix), she was very easy to follow. We did the routine slowly the first time (thank you!) and then we did it two more times at a very fast pace. Unlike my last experience, this class was great. Very easy to follow, and I didn't feel like a fish out of water. Or course I still didn't look very graceful (I'm not sure that'll ever happen), but the good news was that most of the men looked just as silly as we did. Oh, and another big plus- NO MIRRORS!
I think I'll go back again next week. I'm super sore this morning, so I know I did something right.

Just a little toe touching
Ladies and gentlemen I have a very important announcement.....I, Lisa Cox, was finally able to touch my toes! You might be thinking, "big deal- I've been able to do that my whole life." Well I haven't. In fact, I can't remember a time when I could reach down and touch my toes(without bending my knees). Of course I blamed it on my long, gangly legs and short, dwarf like arms. I thought it could never be done. Impossible! But here I am, after many many many days of stretching and exercise(and some drill-Sargentish behavior from my husband *I kid, I kid*) looking down at my finger (my fingers!) reaching down touching my toes (no bending of the knees, mind you). Oh can this day get any better?! I submit that it cannot!
*I dedicate this achievement to my wonderful husband, Dan, who never gave up hope that I'd be able to do something a normal person can do. You're the best, hunny!

Encouraging
A lot has happened in the past few hours. It has left me feeling distracted and overwhelmed, but more importantly it has made me more thankful for a faithful, loving God. He isn't surprised by anything. He doesn't worry what tomorrow will bring. He doesn't wonder how it all will turn out. He already knows. He can take any situation and use it for His glory.
I need a God who will hear what's on my heart before I even say it. I need a God who will give me wisdom and strength to help the ones I love. I need a God who is understanding, forgiving and full of mercy. I need a God who will comfort me when I am heartbroken. I need a God who can handle any situation. And I have one.
"My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever." Psalms 73:26

Busy Busy Busy
Well folks, we've been busy around here these past few weeks. Dan is finally graduating for ALS (leadership school) tomorrow. It's been a full past 5 weeks for him. He's constantly been in class or working on homework, so I'm glad he'll finally be done. He heads back to his regular job on Wednesday, and I'm sure he'll be wishing he was back in ALS soon enough =)
Our friends, Vicky and Joe moved to Vegas a few weeks ago. We took some pictures of the dogs while they were here for dinner one night. George didn't even mind sharing his crate.

I also spent a whole day baking some bread loafs. These were just plain-jane-don't-get-too-excited bread loafs. I was pleased with the results.
Saturday we played volleyball with a group from Dan's class. We had a great time, but I got nice and burnt. My right side was worse than my left because of where I was sitting. It looks really ridiculous.
Dan put in his paperwork to cross-train, so keep praying about where we'll end up and what his new job will be!

I've been doing a lot of reading and baking lately. I made these wonderful peanut butter brownies. It was the first time I tried this recipe from Kraft magazine and let me tell you, they were excellent!
