A Belated Birthday Wish

Yesterday had me running all over the place, and unfortunately I didn't get a chance to post for my sister's birthday. Sorry about that. But I still want to wish Happy Birthday to my baby sister. I hope it was a great day.

I'm so happy we're sisters. You have such a sweet and tender spirit, and a big heart.  You're a wonderful listener, and you give some great advice. You have a silly sense of humor that keeps me in stitches. And I love that you're my partner in crime when it come to some pretty sweet dance routines ;)

LOVE YOU!

How Time Flies

If you live to be a hundred, I want
To live to be a hundred minus one day,
So I never have to live without you
.

Winnie the Pooh

Today Dan and I celebrate 7 years of marriage. It's bittersweet because he's not here to celebrate with me. Plus this is the first anniversary he's missed. I wish I could say he'll never miss another one, but I wont say that. I know I can't say that. But what I can say, is that I love him more than anything else. And whether we're spending the day together, or far apart, it doesn't change how much he means to me.

The past 7 years have been a whirl wind of packing, unpacking, leaving friends, making new friends, buying and selling our first house, buying a new house :), leaving our churches, finding a new church, living in an apartment (boo), traveling across the country many times, changing jobs,  accumulating furry friends, transporting those furry friends around the country, seeing a lot of the USA from the car window, or seeing a lot of the USA in person.

Our marriage, like all marriages, has had its ups and downs. But it's how you come thru the "downs" that really build a marriage. The old saying, "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" is definitely true. But I'm also a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, so I'm very grateful that God put us together to go through the hard parts. It just makes the good parts even better. :)

"Writers say that love is concerned only with young people, and the excitement and glamor of romance end at the altar. How blind they are. The best romance is inside marriage; the finest love stories come after the wedding, not before".
Irving Stone

Marriage is messy.

It's hard work.

But it's worth it.

Happy Anniversary, Dan! I love and miss you! And I can't wait to see you coming off that plane. I'll be the one jumping up and down ;)

A Birthday Wish

I was hoping to post a picture but this computer is not cooperating. But- even though the picture wont post, the message is the same: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KAREN! You're my favorite big sister ;) You are one of the sweetest, most thoughtful people I know. You have always been super supportive, and I know I can count on you for anything. You have an amazing sense of humor, and I treasure the time we get to spend together. Plus, I'm glad we share the same tastes in books and movies! I love talking to you about those things. :)

I hope you had an amazing birthday! But I'm sad it's here, because I will miss you list of 30 things lol.

Love you!

And....she's back!

Wow- is it May already? I'm not sure where the months have gone, but that's okay, because that means the end of this deployment is around the corner. Dan should be home in a few weeks, and I am SUPER excited. With that said, I've been trying to wrap up all my projects before he gets home. I can't wait to post pictures of all the work I've done, but I want it to be a surprise for Dan, so the pictures will have to wait a little longer. :(

In other news: I ran my first 5k last Saturday. I'm not a runner- in fact, I hate running. Hate it. But I thought that training for the 5k would help build up my cardio. I typically do strength and flexibility training at the gym, so my cardio is lacking. The race went really well. I finished faster than I was hoping, so I was a happy girl. Who knows- there may be another 5k in my future.

I'm still working 5 days a week. I haven't decided if I will return to my old 4 days schedule after Dan comes back, but for now the schedule works. I'm filling in for our receptionist right now, so I don't have any good vet stories. I'm eagerly awaiting her return, because I feel like I'm attached to the front desk and phone. Not my thing. I'd rather be in the back working with the animals.

Well that's my update for now. Happy Tuesday, everyone!
