After returning from dinner last night, it wasn't long before we heard sirens and helicopters outside. We rarely hear much of anything around here (especially sirens) but last night was definately different. We didn't think much of it (because let's be honest- what were we going to do), until we woke up at 2:30 to a knock on our door. Police officers were out looking for informaition about a shooting near us, and wanted to know if we had seen anybody suspicious. There were at least 10 police cars outside, and even k-9 assistance. Obviously we didn't have any information for the officer, but here is the newspaper article I found this morning.

Officer-involved shooting
A North Las Vegas Police officer was shot Saturday night, but the round struck his badge and he suffered only minor injuries, authorities said.
The officer was on patrol about 9:55 p.m. in the area of Losee Road and Deer Springs Way when he heard shots coming from an apartment complex, police said.
The 31-year-old officer, whose name was not immediately released, came upon a “suspicious person” near Deer Springs and McCarran Street and tried to stop him, police said.
At that point, there was an exchange of gunfire between the officer and the suspect in which the officer was struck. The suspect, who fled, may also have been hit, police said.
Police were searching for the gunman. No further details were released.

Wow! I think I would've been too curious and would've had to know what was going on with all of the sirens. :) Glad you hadn't seen anybody 'suspicious'! :)

Glad you are both safe and the police officer will recover!
